Clone 470 Syrah was hyped as the best new Syrah clone for the Northwest from French horticulturists. Extremely popular in Hermitage because of the late ripening, crazy aromatics, tannin structure, and deep color. In our vineyard we see longer, very open clusters which make for easy growing because of great airflow. Longer, less dense, and relatively later ripening which loves to grow with heavy vigor is the best way I can best describe Clone 470 Syrah. Pure black fruits - blackberry and black currants - anise, cocoa, and tamarind round out this opulent beast.
